The Golden Dragon Haicang electrophoresis line adopts international advanced cathodic electrophoresis technology for complete vehicles and is China’s first fully-submerged cathodic electrophoresis prime coating production for the pre-treatment of the complete bodies of large buses.

        After pre-treatments such as degreasing and phosphating, the integrated body frame and chassis frame of a complete vehicle will be treated by cathodic electrophoresis, following which, a high-quality coating film is formed after high-temperature baking. The annual capacity of the cathodic electrophoresis line is more than 10 thousand units.




Benefits of Cathodic Electrophoresis Coating

         The benefits of cathodic electrophoresis coating are an even coating film, strong adhesive force, excellent quality and high throwing power; there is even and smooth coating film on every part of the work piece, such as the inner bore, concavity and welding seam, etc; the utilization rate of coating is as high as 90%～95%; the coating is highly adhesive and there is no risk of air pollution or fire; production can be both continuous and automatic so that the coating efficiency is high. Excellent corrosion-resistant properties of cathodic electrophoresis coating not only improves the corrosion-resistance of bores and the welding seams of the body, thus prolonging service lifetime of the body due to more than 10 years of corrosion resistance, but also boasts outstanding environmental advantages due to very low levels of organic solvent, which conforms to national industrial policies of sustainable development by reducing pollution and seeking green manufacturing.

        All raw materials and key equipment of used in the Golden Dragon Haicang electrophoresis line are imported; among these, the double-rail carriage is an automatic transferring tool with a national patent. Both the raw materials and equipment employed represent a leading standard in large bus manufacturing internationally. The application of cathodic electrophoresis coating technology on large buses has taken coating technology for large buses to a new level. 

Comparative photos of common materials and electrophoresis materials 

Figures 1 and 2 show a rear wall frame manufactured using general bus processes, which have been placed under outdoor sunlight, rain and wind for one and half months. This steel pipes were pickled, degreased and phosphated, dipped and coated with iron oxide red epoxy and then welded as a rear wall frame assembly. It can be seen that corrosion started from welding seams, folding and broken parts and spread to the whole frame structure.          Figures 3 and 4 show directly purchased treated steel pipes. Steel pipes in figure 3 have been pickled, degreased and phosphated, and then dipped and coated with iron oxide red epoxy. Steel pipes in figure 4 have been pickled, degreased and phosphated, and then dipped and coated with corrosion-resistant prime coating for chassis. It can be seen that corrosion started from the edges, corners and broken parts and then spread, eventually causing the rusting and perforation of the steel pipes.         Figures 5 and 6 show a partial section of complete vehicle which has been coated through cathodic electrophoresis. It was a sample vehicle used for the process testing of Golden Dragon’s electrophoresis line, and has been placed outdoors in sunlight, rain and wind for more than 2 months. This frame has been welded as complete vehicle, degreased, phosphated and dipped and coated with electrophoresis prime coating. It can be seen that there is no corrosion at the seams, edges and corners of frame, especially at the sharp edges of punched holes and plates. The quality of the electrophoresis process is not difficult to see.
